RFK Stadium Short Track Album

Washington DC

In 1973 the Capital Racing Corporation (headed by racer and shop owner Bill Bloom) scheduled 3 short track races to be held in Robert F Kennedy Stadium. only one of the three events ever took place.

Several issues contributed to the lack of success of these events. First they were held on a Wednesday night, bad choice, no spectators. Second the track preparation/surface was not the best, "smooth motocross" might best describe it. And the third reason, and the final nail in the coffin, then coach of the Washington Redskins, George Allen, didn't want his playing field shredded by a bunch of motorcycle racers. So ended the RFK short tracks forever.
